I’m an animal psychologist — a successful one, I guess, by most measures. Maybe I’d have been a happier one if I’d specialized in a narrower range of animals.
In any case, I confess, yes, it’s true: my successes have been liberally seasoned with missteps.
For example, in my many intensely emotional dealings with the souls of other species, I have confused many a cat.
I have delighted a few dogs, but dumbfounded far more.
I have puzzled some parrots, badgered a badger or two, flustered a flounder, been ignored by an iguana, insulted some salamanders, cajoled a jackass, and hampered a hamster.
But until last night, I had never bemused a bighorn…
