The enormous front yard went on forever, it seemed — miles of barren, inexplicably fenced landscape on the tundra, dotted here and there with random deserted wooden structures. Whom did they hope to keep out, and which side of the fence was out? Who were “they,” for that matter? Who would even want to visit such a godforsaken place?
Kendra didn’t know.
She didn’t even know why she herself was still here, except that she couldn’t bring herself to leave Tiny behind. The big galoot was still chained to an enormous tree trunk, and not even his ton of polar-bear muscle presented much of a challenge to the titanium links.
