Having never had a language course until junior college, I never grasped the need or even want to know another language. But I do remember speaking on your behalf to others, exclaiming quite pointedly that my older brother was a “Latin scholar”. It was a point of pride to be able to say that…course I don’t remember whom I told this too…

I think to be fairly called a "scholar" of something, one has to be *enthusiastic* about it.

Maybe if I'd had my head on straight, I'd have been more insistent on pursuing it... I took Latin my freshman year in college, but when I transferred elsewhere in sophomore year, well, no further Latin courses were offered *there*. It didn't break my heart to be "losing Latin": I remember at some point thinking, well, if I ended up graduating with a major in Latin, what the hell would I do for a job? 🤣

[That said, thank you for bragging on me! I do wonder what the, uh, braggees made of the information. "I don't know her brother, but I bet he's a real charmer!" LOL.]
